Frequently Asked Questions
Collectibles can cover a lot of different items! What do you mean when you say “collectibles“?
When we’re talking about collectibles, we mean anything of value that you can collect!
Unlike a lot of other companies, which only focus on one type of collectible like trading cards, comic books, or rare jewelry, we take a more comprehensive view of collectibles here at Kendall Square Collectibles, focusing on a wide variety of different items.
As lifelong collectors and players ourselves, our major focus is on trading cards like Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu Gi Oh, as well as sports cards for baseball, football, basketball, and other popular sports.
But we also love other collectibles like comic books, rare coins and stamps, limited-edition designer apparel, fine jewelry, antiquarian books, and autographed sports memorabilia!
So, whether you love Charizard, Mickey Mantle, or Spiderman, we’ve got something for you. :)
Be sure to check out our eBay Store to see our latest collectibles listings, follow us on Instagram and Facebook, and check out our YouTube Channel!
When and where was Kendall Square Collectibles founded?
Kendall Square Collectibles was originally founded in March, 2019 nearby Kendall Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, an innovation and biotech hub nearby MIT and Harvard University.
As lifelong collectibles lovers ourselves, we saw a need for a high-quality, friendly, and innovative collectibles business to address our customers needs for trading cards, sports cards, graded collectibles, autographed memorabilia, and more.
We continued to be amazed at how the collectibles market has continued to grow — especially since 2020 and 2021 — and we are so thrilled to be part of this exciting and dynamic industry!
Where is Kendall Square Collectibles currently based?
We moved just one town over to Brookline, Massachusetts, in 2021, and greatly appreciate the warm welcome from all of our amazing customers, fellow collectibles enthusiasts, and the local business community.
How much are my Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu Gi Oh, or sports cards worth?
Excellent question…and a somewhat complicated one too!
While you can look up values for collectibles online or ask on forums like Reddit, you need to be careful for lowball offers, potentially dishonest buyers and sellers, scams, and outright fake cards that some people try to trade for authentic cards.
A good starting point for understanding the price of collectibles is to examine some recent eBay sold listings for that specific collectible.
However, if there aren’t any recent eBay sold listings, it becomes much more complex to properly evaluate and analyze the pricing of collectibles.
Luckily, you have an expert team at Kendall Square Collectibles at your service to help you better understand how much your collectibles are worth and to provide context on their rarity and potential for value increases over time.
We’re always happy to buy collectibles from sellers, and we strive to provide fair prices and honest communication about your collectibles, whether they’re a shoe box full of baseball cards from the 1960s, a binder of old Magic: The Gathering cards from the 1990s, or a pile of Pokémon cards from the 2010s!
If you’re curious about how much your collectibles might be worth, feel free to send us an email at info@kendallsquarecollectibles.com, fill out a short contact form on our website, or send us a DM via Instagram or Facebook!

What is the best advice for an aspiring trading card, sports card, comic book, stamp or coin collector?
The best advice if often hard to come by, but we have two pieces of (hopefully!) helpful advice for aspiring collectors:
First, always make sure to collect what you love. You should follow your passion and interests to decide what to collect, instead of just following the latest fads and trends because they’re popular. If you happen love Pokémon and it also happens to be incredibly popular (which it is!), that’s okay too!
Second, support your local collectibles stores and communities! While big box stores like Target and Walmart continue to grow their dominance of the sales of trading and sports cards, local collectibles stores are still the lifeblood of the collectibles market, and can provide unique expertise and insights that you won’t find at the big box stores.
And overall, just have fun and always be open to new types of collectibles…you never know when you’ll find a new character or emerging media franchise that you love!
