The Fastest Growing Trading Card Games in 2025 and 2026: What is Disney Lorcana and Bandai One Piece, and What Are the Five Most Valuable Cards in These TCGs?
If you’ve been following Trading Card Games (TCGs) over the past few years, you’ve probably heard of two new big entries to the TCG market: 1) Disney’s Lorcana and 2) Bandai’s One Piece!
Both of these trading card games we’re only released during the past 4 years and have experienced steady growth since their development and launch.
As you might expect from a Disney TCG, Lorcana features a wide variety of Disney favorites, including the princesses, Minnie & Mickey Mouse, and characters like Elsa, Anna, Jafar, and Alladin from blockbuster movies.
If you’re not from Japan or South Korea, you might not have heard of One Piece before. This TCG is based on the wildly-popular One Piece anime franchise, which focuses on swashbuckling pirate adventures on the high seas centered around the main character, Monkey D. Luffy.
Let’s take a closer look at the Lorcana and One Piece TCGs, including their origins, key features of both TCGs, and the top 5 most expensive cards from each TCG as of September, 2025!

What is Disney’s Lorcana, When Did Lorcana Start, and What are the Key Features of the Lorcana TCG?
When compared to long-standing leaders in the TCG market, including Magic: The Gathering (launched in 1993), Pokemon (1996), and YuGiOh! (1999), Locana only started in August, 2023.
As you might expect from a Disney-involved trading card game, Lorcana features a variety of Disney characters from the original cartoons, animated (and live action) movies, and theme parks.
The goal of a game of Lorcana is to gain 20 Lore points by playing cards from your hand.
Cards are played with “ink” from other cards and the amount of ink provided is listed on each card.
A player’s turn in Lorcana includes:
A Ready phase (getting prepared to play)
Set Phase (for casting beginning-of-turn effects)
Draw phase (drawing a new card from the deck)
Main phase (questing [aka gaining Lore], playing cards, and challenging the opposing player’s character cards).
A player wins if they reach 20 Lore points, or if their opponent runs out of cards in their 60-card (minimum) deck.
Interestingly, Lorcana’s Lore-gaining win condition differs from games like Magic: The Gathering, which instead focus on reducing the opponent’s life total from 20 to 0 (in Standard) or 40 to 0 (in Commander).
Beyond playing the game, a handful of super difficult to pull “Enchanted Rare” cards — found in about 1 in every 100 packs — are highly-collectible and sold for hundreds or thousands of dollars on websites like eBay or Whatnot.
What are the Five Most Expensive Cards Ever Released in Disney’s Lorcana? (as of September, 2025)
Just like in Pokemon, YuGiOh! or Magic: The Gathering, certain cards in Lorcana are worth much more than the rest, notably the Enchanted Rares we discussed above.
Not only are these cards very rare, they also feature highly popular and recognizable characters, providing a combination of rarity and name recognition.
In this list of the 5 most valuable Lorcana cards of all time (as of September, 2025; graded in PSA 10 Gem Mint condition), we decided to not include very rare promo cards with limited releases, so this list of the most expensive cards here includes only cards available to the general public in Lorcana Booster Packs.

What is Bandai’s One Piece, When Did the One Piece Trading Card Game Start, and How Does the One Piece TCG Work?
The One Piece trading card game is actually slightly older than Disney’s Lorcana, as it was released during July, 2022.
Although both TCGs had summer releases, One Piece is about one year older than Lorcana, and the original manga content it’s based on is even older, originally launched in Japan way back in 1996!
The goal of a game of One Piece is to reduce your opponents life total (typically starting at 5) to 0 by attacking their Leader, or to have your opponent run out of cards in their deck.
DON!! cards are used to play other cards, summon character cards and attack the opponent’s Leader or characters.
Characters are not able to attack on their first turn they are played, except for cards with the “Rush“ ability.
A player’s turn includes:
Refresh phase (flip all rested cards face-up)
Draw phase (draw a card; this phase does not occur on the first turn)
Dawn phase (play DON!! cards)
Main phase (play other cards and/or attack your opponent’s Leader or characters)
End phase (activation of end-of-turn effects)
Characters that attack or use certain abilities are “rested“ until the next turn, meaning that they can’t defend or attack in that same turn.
Similar to Lorcana, One Piece has some sought-after cards that have sold for hundreds or thousands of dollars on eBay.
Most of these cards are very rare “manga rare” cards, found in 1 in 500 to 1 in 1,500 booster packs!
What are the Five Most Expensive Cards Ever Released in the One Piece TCG? (as of September, 2025)
Much like other TCGs, a handful of cards in the One Piece TCG command a premium price, especially in perfect, or “Gem Mint“ condition.
Let’s take a look at the top 5 most valuable One Piece cards (graded in PSA 10 Gem Mint condition) as of September, 2025.
A quick note on our list here: we decided to exclude exceedingly rare promo cards (e.g, ones only available at special tournaments) from this list like we did for Lorcana, meaning that the cards covered here are all available from Booster Packs that were released to the public.

The Bottom Line: What’s Next in 2025 and 2026 for Disney’s Lorcana TCG and Bandai’s One Piece TCG?
As we move into the last few months of 2025, we’ll likely see continued growth in interest in both playing and collecting of Lorcana and One Piece, as new sets are released and the word continues to spread about these two awesome TCGs.
It’s difficult to predict what will happen in 2026, but as other TCGs like Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering are dealing with stock shortages, extensive bot purchasing of new products, and other issues, we’ll likely see some of those player bases migrate over to Lorcana and One Piece.
