Most Expensive Pokemon Cards from the English Black Bolt and White Flare Pokemon Sets: August 2025 Update
If you’ve been following recent releases in the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) universe, then you’ve probably heard of the Black Bolt and White Flare sets, which both launched on July 18, 2025.
These are the first “dual sets“ to appear in English, which means that they have two separate groups of cards, numbered to 172 in Black Bolt and to 173 in White Flare.
Beyond the normal cards in the set, there are also secret rares and different foil variants, resulting in more than 800 cards across both sets!
Much like the Prismatic Evolutions set that came out on January 17, 2025, the Black Bolt and White flare sets also have “God Packs“, which are packs that contain all full art cards.
These God Packs are totally epic and have been taking over social media videos recently, but they’re also exceedingly rare, as estimates put them at 1 in 800 or 1,000 packs!
Let’s take a closer look at the Black Bolt and White Flare Pokemon TCG sets, including the top 5 most expensive cards in each set as of August, 2025 in PSA 10 grades, as well as our predictions about future price changes and a preview of the next Mega Evolutions set that drops in late September, 2025!

Top 5 Most Expensive Cards from the Pokemon Black Bolt Set: Graded Prices
As we discussed above, Black Bolt is one of the two dual sets from this release, which means that the most valuable cards are different than those in White Flare.
However, there is one exception!
The Pokemon Company made an interesting decision with the Victini monochrome red card by releasing it in both sets.
You have to look closely, but the Black Bolt Victini card is actually card #171, while the White Flare version is card #172! And strangely, pricing is much different for these two cards.
The Black Bolt version recently sold on eBay in a PSA 10 for $2,000, whereas the White Flare one went for an astronomical $3,660.
As you can see in the graphic above, the Black Bolt version is the second most expensive card in the set, behind the monochrome black Zekrom ex.
Next, Seismitoad is in third place with its cool pastel abstract art, followed by another epic thunderstorm-engulfed Zekrom ex full art card, and finally Kyurem ex amongst the ice caverns.
Top 5 Most Expensive Cards from the Pokemon White Flare Set: Graded Prices
Turning to the top 5 most valuable cards in the Pokemon White Flare set, we have the same (well 1 card number off!) Victini monochrome red card, followed by a beautiful monochrome white/silver Reshiram ex card, and another more traditional full art Reshiram ex card.
In fourth place is a unique Hydreigon ex card, flying above a mountain in darkness.
And finally, a full art trainer card for Hilda, clad in her Poke Ball hat, an epic outfit, and her Pokemon backing her up.
For both the Black Bolt and White Flare set, these rankings will likely be similar over time, but we might see the fourth and fifth place cards by value change, depending on preferences, supply on sites like eBay, and market trends in trading cards and collectibles more generally.

The Bottom Line: Future Price Projections and the Next Pokemon TCG Release (Mega Evolution) in September
Black Bolt and White Flare have both been huge so far, and there is no sign of the momentum and interest in Pokemon subsiding any time soon.
The next set, Mega Evolution, re-introduces Mega Pokemon, and is already sold out for preorder in most places.
This new Pokemon Mega Evolution set will be dropping on September 26, 2025, so make sure to visit you local brick and mortar collectibles stores, or online retailers like Amazon or eBay on that day to see if you can score some sealed packs or boxes!
And make sure to keep an eye on our Sealed Packs & Boxes page on our site, as we might be able to get some of these packs and boxes to sell.
